I make all of my bags as one-of-a-kind, bespoke handbags. The changes may be quite subtle in some designs but they are all different.
Actually hand crafting a bag can take 4 or 5 days so I only make them when I have time. There will only be one listed item and when it is gone - it's gone!
All of my leather bags and pouches are made entirely by hand. Yes that's right! I don't use any automated equipment to make my leather bags. Just the strength of my own two hands.
The original idea for a leather bag starts in my head. Sometimes it may stay there for a few months whilst I work out the details and how I might craft the leather bag. After a while I start some initial drawings before working out a prototype pattern. Believe it not but the first bag is usually a paper version. Once I am happy with the design I will make a final template and cut the leather out. This will then be stitched together using a traditional saddlery hand stitch and results in the finished article.
Usually during the hand making process I think of some other ideas which may be incorporated in to another design.
For my handmade leather bags I use a vegetable tanned shoulder. These are available in a multitude of colours and thickness. I use Metropolitan Leather in either Lamport or Rutland.
Leather shoulder is perfect for bags and leather pouches. Soft enough to be flexible but rigid enough to give the back some rigidity and support.
Your handmade leather bag is made entirely in England. In fact it is just me!. I don't out source my work or buy it cheaply from abroad. I make everything by hand in my workshop in Kent.
And on top of that, if you are shipping to the UK then postage is free! That's right. There are no hidden charges when you get to the checkout. What you see is what you will pay.
